The Shehzori Housing Project
Bringing Change through Charity, Philanthropy, and Sisterhood
Welcome to the Shehzori Project, a transformative initiative based in New Jersey, dedicated to uplifting and empowering Muslim women in need. Inspired by the concept of "empowered women" from the timeless novel of the progressive writer Mirza Azeem Beg Chagtai, the name Shehzori symbolizes the strength and courage of women who fight against societal norms to reclaim their rights. Much like the heroine in the novel, we are committed to supporting women who have been displaced by unforeseen circumstances, helping them rebuild their lives and regain their stability.
Two years ago, we opened the doors of Shehzori House, a shelter, transitional home and women’s empowerment center, with the gracious support of Assemblyman Sterley Stanley and our incredible community. Thanks to everyone's generosity and a growing network of supporters, the Shehzori Project has flourished into two vital initiatives that are making a real difference in the lives of women and their children in need.

1. Al-Wali Shehzori Shelter Home
Al-Wali Shehzori Shelter Home is a new initiative that represents the evolution of the Women 2 Women Forum's original program of a transitional home . This new initiative provides immediate assistance to homeless Muslim women and their children. Supported by Al-Wali Masjid and the Women 2 Women Forum, we offer a safe and welcoming space for women in urgent need, helping them regain their footing and rebuild their lives. We are deeply grateful for the financial contributions and volunteer support from Masjid Al-Wali, whose unwavering commitment brings this vital initiative to life. Their generosity ensures that we can continue to empower those who need it most, offering hope and a chance for a fresh start.

2. Shehzori Guest House
For women who need continued assistance even after they leave our shelter, the Shehzori Guest House offers subsidized housing in a shared facility. This second-stage housing option provides a bridge to independence, offering essential support as women work towards self-reliance. The Guest House fosters a strong sense of community, connects women to vital state-based resources, and empowers them to stand strong while securing a brighter future for themselves and their children.
Through the Shehzori Project, we offer more than just temporary shelter and housing support—we are building a powerful network of sisterhood, working together to uplift and empower the underprivileged women in our community. At the heart of this initiative, philanthropy and charity unite to create lasting change, helping women thrive and build lasting futures.
Together, we are making a profound and lasting impact—one woman at a time.
Thank you for your support.
